My name is Joanne Cooney and I am the Third Grade Teacher at St. Edward School in Seattle, WA. This is my first year teaching at this school, but I have been a teacher for many years (mostly in Catholic Schools). The Catholic Schools have a warm, inviting community feel that many other schools do not have. I enjoy teaching young children about the life of Jesus, the Holy Family, the Mass, Saints, the Catholic prayers, and much, much more.
I have lived in the Seattle area most of my life and really enjoy the weather here. Most people don’t say that, but I love the fresh air after it rains here. I don’t mind the clouds because I know that a sunny day is right around the corner. I live with my two cats and my dog, Buddy. He is the light of my life and I do miss him each day when I am at school. I am greeted excitedly at the door each evening when I get home! Most of my siblings live in this area which is nice when we get together for celebrations and holidays.
My interests and hobbies are reading mystery novels, making paper art crafts and books/journals, spending time with Buddy, walking, visiting with my sister and nephew, antiquing, and doing some or all of these activities at the Oregon coast. I love the beach and hope to retire there someday soon!
